Robbie, tell us about being a SHEQ Coordinator at Clarke Facades– what does your typical day consist of?
I’ve worked at Clarke Facades from November 2017 and in the short time working at the company I immediately felt like part of the team. Since my employment I have been involved in a broad range of tasks, mainly based in the office with several days onsite across the UK and Ireland. I am predominantly responsible for maintaining and implementing the safety and environmental management controls and procedures for Clarke Facades.
How did you decide that Clarke Facades was the right company for you?
I started with Clarke Facades last November after completing a degree in Building Engineering. After graduation I was on the lookout for a career which would allow me to utilise my university degree and focus on the health and safety aspect of a business – I was delighted when Clarke Facades offered me a full-time graduate position working as a SHEQ Coordinator. When I was looking for a job I was weary of my little experience onsite but when I started with Clarkes I completed ample amounts of training both on the job and off the job. I’m also about to complete a NEBOSH course making me fully trained in all health and safety and having sole responsibility for this on site.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love my sports! I’m part of a local football club and play striker, I love to play golf and enjoy watching most sports. Clarke Facades are into team away days and organising sports activities out of work hours which I enjoy participating in. I competed in the Belfast Marathon team relay in June alongside some of my colleagues to help raise money for our Charity Partner of the Year; Cancer Fund for Children.
What do you enjoy most about your job role as SHEQ Coordinator?
I enjoy being both on site and in the office, it’s a good mixture of both practical and theory and it’s great to see the projects we are working on – it’s also a good opportunity to get to know my colleagues better!
