Meet our latest Aluminium Fabricator apprentice, Sammy Alloyce.

Sammy, tell us about your journey to Clarke Offsite and why you decided to do an apprenticeship.

I left school last year and chose to do an apprenticeship as it would provide me with employable skills for the future.  Clarke Facades took a leap of faith in me and offered to take me on as an apprentice, putting me through a course at the local NRC.  I learn best with my hands and completing practical work so doing an apprenticeship gave me the best of both.  On the successful completion of my course at the NRC, Clarke Facades offered me full time employment as an Aluminium Fabricator in June, I was delighted to accept!

What do you enjoy most about working for Clarke Facades.

I thoroughly enjoy working for Clarke Facades at their fabrication facility as mentioned before I like working with my hands and enjoy the satisfaction on completion of projects.  We work on large scale projects so to know I was part of the build is fantastic.  All of my colleagues are extremely friendly and we all get on well.  Clarke Facades recently hosted an end of Summer BBQ which was a great way to take a step away from work and enjoy the company of colleagues we don’t see on a day to day basis.  We also get free lunch on a Thursday which is one of the better perks for me!

I also completed the Belfast Marathon Relay in June alongside a few other employees for Clarke Facades chosen charity partner Cancer Fund for Children. We raised an amazing £1700, it was my first time completing it but I look forward to taking part next year! We also sponsor a range of sporting clubs including my local Gaelic Athletic Club Greenlough.

What’s your typical working day as an Aluminium Fabricator?

I spend my days in the factory, as an apprentice I’m continually learning on the job, on completion of my course at the NRC I’ve been given more responsibilities and it’s great to see that my team are relying on me. Our fabrication team continues to grow which is brilliant.  We have a lot of large scale projects lined up for next year so will be great to increase my skills and be part of major construction projects.

How would you describe work at Clarke Façades?

Fun yet successful and driven with a great team spirit!
