"With the company’s emphasis on learning and development and career progression I have no doubt that I will succeed within Clarke Facades…"

How did you first hear about the Clarke Facades Graduate Programme?

After completing my degree, I was keen on securing full-time employment quite quickly. To assist me with my job search I contacted a local recruitment agency who informed me that Clarke Facades were actively seeking a graduate, someone of my skills and knowledge. I was delighted when the company offered me a full-time graduate position working as a Façade Designer.

What is your typical working day like at Clarke Facades?

Working as a Graduate means that each day varies. Primarily, I was responsible for:

  • Working on details assigned by Façade Designer
  • Uploading current drawings to collaboration website
  • Receiving and resolving technical enquiries that arise on site
  • Chairing weekly design meetings
  • Fortnightly site visit to London
  • Liaison with manufactures, design managers and interface contractors

What sort of training do you receive at Clarke Facades?

When I first started at Clarke Facades I received induction training from my Manager on company policies, procedures, and various internal software systems. During the induction training my Manager introduced me to other members of the design team and clearly outlined my job roles and responsibilities and the projects I would be working on throughout the year.

The Clarke Façade Graduate Programme also places a great emphasis on continual learning and development.

What is your favourite thing about working for Clarke Facades?

Clarke Facades is a highly sociable and fun company to work for. I have attended company events and team bonding days. Clarke Facades place a great emphasis on CSR and are very committed to giving back to the local community, partnering with local charities and completing a number of fundraising events.

Being able to work on many prestigious projects is another benefit about working for Clarke Facades. For example, whilst at graduate level I worked alongside our experienced design team on lucrative projects such as; Westminster Quarter, Queen Mary University and the Curtain Club Hotel.

How has the Graduate programme benefited you?

The Graduate programme gave me a vital insight into the day-to-day running of how a successful construction business operates. As the façade industry is such a niche market here in Northern Ireland I feel that I have been able to learn new skills and aptitudes and apply these within my everyday work. Having spent four years at university learning theory I have finally been able to put into practice what I have learnt.

Would you encourage individuals to apply for the Graduate Programme?

I would recommend anybody who wants to work within a fast-paced, challenging and exciting environment to apply for Clarke Façade Graduate Programme. I gained invaluable experience and constantly learned with the help of my mentors and senior management team. Combined, this gave me an excellent grounding in the construction industry.
