Facade Designer

Architectural Technology and Management - Ulster University Jordanstown

"The Graduate Programme enabled me to kick-start my career as a Designer, I thoroughly enjoy working at Clarke Facades."

How did you first hear about the Clarke Facades Graduate Programme?

Growing up near Portglenone, where the company was founded, I was always familiar with the company. Nearing completion of my Architectural Technology and Management degree at Ulster University Jordanstown I was keen to kick-start a career in Design. Clarke Facades announced their Graduate Programme around the time I was graduating, so I grabbed the opportunity and was delighted to be recruited as a Façade Designer.

What is your typical working day like at Clarke Facades?

Working on major construction projects across the UK and Ireland, my working day typically consists of being in our new office in Ballymena however several times a month I get to go on site and see our live projects. Most of our projects are in London so it’s great to get the opportunity to travel. On a day to day basis I use CAD software.

What sort of training do you receive at Clarke Facades?

Clarke Facades are very much into continually developing their employees. I have been on several training courses throughout my time at Clarke Facades, I’m CWCT Accredited and have developed my learning of CAD. The Graduate Scheme was brilliant as it enabled me to develop the theory I learnt at university into practice, so plenty of on the job training.

What is your favourite thing about working for Clarke Facades?

I really enjoy working on the design element in the construction industry. I’ve worked on a range of large scale designs and it’s amazing to see the finished project. I was so lucky to get onto the Graduate Scheme at Clarke Facades, it enabled me to kick-start my career as a Designer and the opportunities have been great! I also enjoy working alongside my colleagues, we all make a great team!

Final Thought

I really enjoy working at Clarke Façades and would encourage any undergraduate or recent graduate to apply for Clarke Facades Graduate Programme.
