Gary, tell us about your role at Clarke Facades.
I’ve been with Clarke Facades for just over a year as their Design Manager. I’ve had experience in the design function of construction companies for most of my career. I often travel back and forth to London as the majority of our work is in this area. As part of my role I attend tender meetings with the commercial and sales teams to discuss the design aspect of projects, encouraging full dedication from pre-tender to the completion of schemes, supporting a strong relationship with our clients.
Tell us a little about what you enjoy doing outside of work.
I thoroughly enjoy sports, outdoors activities and spending time with my family. I often attend rugby and football matches, enjoy clay pigeon shooting and doing outdoors activities.
Tell us a little about what Clarke Facades offers their clients and what differs you from other façade companies.
With only a few companies in Northern Ireland specialising in the Façade industry, our unique selling point is that we are able to offer our clients a distinct and unique service which makes us one of the UK’s leading building envelope contractors, our client list continues to grow in Northern Ireland and the UK as we take on more large-scale, lucrative projects. We use our unique and innovative approach, work ethic and commitment in providing a high-quality service. As a company, we pride ourselves in offering the complete package on both new build and retrofit projects, not only delivering value engineering and full design but also the supply, installation, testing and warranty of the systems. We have long standing client relationships with main contractors who engage with us at an early stage to help secure projects. With our fabrication facility we can take on larger scale projects and double the capacity of our work.
What do you enjoy most about working in the design function at Clarke Facades?
I enjoy the wide range of projects which Clarke Facades secure – we don’t limit ourselves to one sector, we ensure the project is right for our people working across multiple sectors including healthcare, commercial, education and residential.
The design team consists of 8 highly skilled employees, all of which are a pleasure to work with. We recently completed our design away day, we worked hard in the morning and let some steam off in the afternoon by doing some clay pigeon shooting. A great day getting to know the team better and engaging in some competitive challenges.
